Athletic Training

Athletic Training

Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who optimize activity, and patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency and acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training program. Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury and illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, injury and illness assessment, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition. Classroom learning is enhanced through clinical education experiences. More than 70 percent of certified athletic trainers hold at least a master’s degree.

SportsPlus was built on athletic training principles. We provide clients who contract with us superior service including: pre-event treatment such as taping, stretching, wrapping, and movement preparation. During competition we assist with the overall well-being of the athletes and handle emergency medical situations. Postgame we tend to wounds, make recommendations, and follow up with injuries in the clinic.
